Workshop: Preparing Healing Foods - Cooking from the Garden with Ceres Community Project
Time: 8/5/2017 from 10:30 AM to 1:00 PM

It's harvest time, and the Farmer's Markets are bursting with fresh local produce just waiting to be made into delicious and nutritious meals. If you are looking for ways to improve your health through diet, then this is the class for you!

Daily Acts is thrilled to be partnering with Ceres Community Project to bring you an educational and inspiring class focused on healthy eating and creative garden-based cooking. This class will offer an extensive overview of Ceres’ nutrient-rich approach while providing useful strategies for managing time in the kitchen and eating well on a budget. Of course no cooking class would be complete without ample time to sample the goods, so after a lively dialogue, you will have the chance to bring a few tasty recipes to life right there in the Ceres Kitchen.

Leading the discussion will be Thais Harris, NC, the Nutrition Educator for Ceres who will cover whole food nutrition basics, foods to add into your diet and ones to avoid, shopping strategies, and healthy lifestyle choices.
Thais believes whole foods have a tremendous power to heal and connect people with a sense of themselves and with the world around them, and is delighted to share this belief with the community. Hope you can join us for this delicious opportunity to make the connection between your health and the food that we eat over a shared meal.

Thais Harris is the Nutrition Education Manager at Ceres Community Project and a Certified Holistic Nutrition Consultant through Bauman College, where she is now Adjunct Faculty. She received a BA from the California Institute of Integral Studies in 2008 with a focus on Research and Writing and Ecological Footprint. Thais’ love of food has followed her from Brazil, where she is originally from.

Preparing Healing Foods is the fifth installment of our six-part workshop series, ‘Healthy Homes, Happy Hearts'. Through this series, we offer one class per month (from April through September), each highlighting a different natural care product for the home or body. Click here to view series details and to register.
