Workshop; Herbal Remedies - Natural Medicine Making Workshop 2017
Time: 7/8/2017 from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM

Fend off cold and flu season this year with sustainably-sourced herbs from our local landscape. This workshop is a must for anyone wanting to learn the fundamentals of preserving herbal medicine, the robust medicinal benefits of local plants, and time-honored natural therapies for colds and flus. We’ll be blessed by our medicine maker extraordinaire, Amy Charnay, MS, CNS. She has a truly inspiring background in traditional medicines with over 20 years of experience in the natural products industry. Amy holds a Master’s of Science degree in Herbal Medicine and is a Board Certified Nutrition Specialist. Learn more about her work at www.amycharnay.com.

In this workshop, we’ll create our own healing Elderberry syrup, whip up a mean Lemon Balm tincture, and learn how to properly process and store herbal teas— all with local berries and herbs found in the beautiful and abundant landscape that surrounds the Cavanagh Center. Soothe that throat, relieve that fever, and nip that nasty cold in the bud! Parents and grandparents, take note: these herbal tips and tricks are great for adults and kiddos alike.

Herbal Remedies is the fourth installment of a truly exciting six-part workshop series we have planned, called ‘Healthy Homes, Happy Hearts.’ Through this series, we will offer one class per month (April through September), each highlighting a different natural care product for the home or body. Join us for all six, or pick and choose the ones that work for you.

Ready, Set, Mark your calendars!
