Come celebrate the hidden colors of the earth with this wonderful new workshop offered as part of our Healthy Homes Happy Hearts series!
Join Daily Acts and Fibershed for an exciting journey into the world of natural dye! Learn the fundamentals of processing, extracting, and applying plant-based dyes from talented garden educators and fiber artists Heather Podoll & Gina Smith. These creative ladies teach classes that weave together plants, fiber, and crafts, providing insight into the vast array of color that nature has to offer. Need more convincing? Just check out the positively stunning images of the magic taking place at Red Twig Farm in Lagunitas.
We will begin with a tour of the dye gardens at Red Twig Farm and explore the connection between the garden, native plants and wardrobe. This will be followed by a hands-on opportunity to express your creative side extracting nature's hues. We will provide materials for dyeing. Please bring a bag lunch, gloves, and be sure to wear old clothes. Discover the fascinating (and at times surprising) range of color hidden in our region’s native plants and expect to leave the class with an insatiable curiosity for natural dye and some beautiful examples.
Fibershed develops regional fiber systems that build soil and protect the health of the biosphere. Learn more at www.fibershed.org
Earthly Colors is the final installment of a truly exciting six-part workshop series where each program highlights a different natural care product for the home or body. Join us for all six, or pick and choose the ones that work for you. Visit dailyacts.org/events to view the other workshops that we will be offering.
