Workday: Native Plant Habitat Garden Installation at McNear Elementary
Time: 2/25/2017 from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM
Venue: 605 Sunnyslope Ave, Petaluma, California, 94952

Want to help be a part of creating a habitat that will continue for generations to come?

Join Daily Acts and McNear Elementary as we create a native plant habitat garden for students, parents, and of course local wildlife to benefit from for years to come. During this work day we will plant a habitat garden in a previously sheet mulched area incorporating various California native plants and pollinator attracting species, making this an ideal space for outdoor education, observation and enjoyment. Participants will learn about the different native and drought-tolerant plants that are appropriate for our climate and soils, how to install drip irrigation, and other sustainable landscape techniques that are beneficial to incorporate in a garden.

We will also be working to sheet mulch another section of under-utilized lawn in preparation for the expansion of this native garden in the fall. The process of sheet mulching or composting the lawn in place, will help reduce water usage on campus while building healthy soil for future planting - a real win-win.

We hope you can join us for this opportunity to gain some new garden skills, get your hands dirty and help out a local school!
